Tingri to Everest base camp trekking tour is perfectly alpine trekking in the shadow of the legendary of Mt Everest. It shows the superb panorama of the young Himalayans, as well as the peaceful nomad villages. From early April to late October is the best time to do a trek. Walking along the valleys and Mt Everest, you will experience a heady mix of solitude, wildlife sightseeing, and physical challenge.


Day 1 Arrival In Lhasa

Taking flight into Tibet will give you a panorama of The Himalayas or you can spend 1-2 days crossing the breathtaking Tibetan Plateau by train. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the Lhasa Airport/Railway by our staff and transferred to the hotel. From the airport, it takes about 1.5 hours. From the train station, it only takes 20 minutes. And then you’d better have a good rest in your hotel to get acclimatized to the high altitude. If you feel good, you can wander around the city and take a panoramic view of the Potala Palace but try not to overtax yourself.

Day 2 Lhasa Sightseeing

Attraction: Potala Palace Tibetan Carpet Workshop Jokhang Temple Barkhor Street

The first station is the famous world heritage Potala Palace, located on the Red Hill 2km northwest of Lhasa. It's well known as the cardinal landmark of Tibet and a masterpiece of Tibetan architecture. Also, the most valuable collections in Potala Palace are the gilded burial stupas of former Dalai Lamas and meditation Cave of the 33rd the great king of Tibet.

After lunch, you will visit the Jokhang Temple, which is the oldest Buddhist temple in Tibet and the ultimate pilgrimage destination. The most valuable collection in the Jokhang Temple is the statue of Sakyamuni at the age of twelve. From there, you will stroll in the old alleys of Barkhor street where you can drink the sweet tea, chat with locals to understand the real life in Lhasa.

Day 3 Lhasa Sightseeing

Attraction: Drepung Monastery Sera Monastery

Today’s tour will begin to visit Drepung Monastery about 45km to the north of Lhasa. It’s the most important monastery of Gelugpa in Tibetan Buddhism and is considered one of the 'Three Great Monasteries'. The hot attraction is the site of the annual Shoton Festival, with the display of huge Buddhist painting on the hillside.

After lunch, you will head to the Sera Monastery which is another one of the ‘Great Three’ Gelug monasteries. It’s famous for the valuable sutra Kanjur kept in it. The most attractive event is the Buddhism activities of "Monks Debate" for around 15:00 – 17:00 every day.

Day 4 Lhasa - Gyantse – Shigatse

Attraction: Yamdroktso LakeKaro La Glacier,  Pelkor Chöde Monastery with Gyantse Kumbum

After a full exploration of Lhasa, we will drive over the Kampala Pass (4794m) from Lhasa to Shigatse. On the way, you will take a short hike along the turquoise waters of Yamdrok Lake, which is one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. The lake is surrounded by many snow-capped mountains.

Later you will enjoy the stunning Karo La Glacier. Here, you can get an up-close view of Mt. Nojin Kangtsang and the glaciers coming off of it.

Then you will visit Pelkor Chode Monastery which is built in the15th century and situated on the northwestern edge of Gyantse. It’s famous for the splendid Buddhist Stupa (100-Thousand-Buddha Tower).

Day 5 Shigatse - Tingri

Attraction: Tashilhunpo Monastery

In the morning, we will visit the Tashi Lhunpo monastery, which is the home of Panchen Lama. After lunch and a short rest, we will go straight from Shigatse to Tingri which is the nearest village to Mt Everest.

Day 6 Tingri To EBC Trek①: Tingri – Lungchang

Your Everest trekking begins today. You’ll do trekking along the Ra-chu Valley which is green during the warmer half of the year, see flocks of goats and sheep as well as feel the warm wind and the sunshine. Tonight you will camp at Lungchang.

Day 7 Tingri To EBC Trek②: Lungchang - Lamna La

Today, you’ll start the most challenging of the trekking by climbing towards the top of Lamna La pass. After taking about 30 minutes to pass Lungchang, you will reach the knobs and the disintegrating walls of the long-abandoned fort known as Ngang Tsang Drag Dog Dzong. After passing Lamna-La, you will have a far view of the blue and purple Tsebu Mountains and the glittering white Cho Oyu mass.

Day 8 Tingri To EBC Trek③: Lamna La – Rongphu

Today is much easier to trek. You will pass to Pang-la (5350m) which has a remarkably impressive sight. Also, you could ride horses and yaks up the mountain to the temple if you prefer.  

Day 9 Tingri To EBC Trek④: Rongphu – EBC

Attraction: Everest Base Camp, Rongbuk Monastery

After visiting Rongbuk Monastery, we’ll go straight from Rongphu to Everest base camp by trekking. It takes about 4hrs to do a trek. At the EBC tent, the last glorious 4km is easy for you. Most people can complete the distance within one hour. Along the way, you will see scree slopes, jagged ridges, and broad glacier valleys flowing with muddy water. On the about 1km way to the tent camp, on the left, is a Guru Rinpoche meditation cave.

After visiting EBC, you will head to tent camp and stay overnight.


Day 10 EBC – Shigatse 350km, Approx 6hrs

When you wake up, you will see the wonderful sunrise of Everest Peak in fair weather. After sightseeing, we will drive back to Shigatse and enjoy the fabulous view along the way.

Day 11 Shigatse – Lhasa, 280km, approx 5hrs

Today we will leave for Lhasa along the Friendship Way, you will follow the beautiful Yarlung River and a number of beautiful local villages. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Lhasa with a lot of time to wander the Lhasa city and sort out the beautiful photos you took.

Day 12 Departure From Lhasa By Flight/Train

Your tour ends today. After breakfasts, you will be free for the morning. Our staff will pick you up at your hotel to transfer to Lhasa Airport/Railway.
