Route 1: Lhasa to Tingri

As there is no regular bus service from Lhasa to Tingri, the great way you can get to Tingri is to rent a car or book a car from the Tibet travel agency. There are two routes from Lhasa to Tingri: one is to drive along the Sino-Nepal Highway to Tingri; the other is to pass through Gyantse, a typical ancient Tibetan town which will show you the turquoise Lake Yamdrok and the famous Gyantse Kumbum on the way. The above two routes meet in Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet. Route 2: EBC to Lhasa or Kathmandu

1 Overnight in Tingri

It is recommended that Trekkers stay at least one night in Tingri to further adapt to the high elevation there. Here, you’d better stay in a guesthouse which is no hot water, no heaters, but it is enough to have a rest in some remote areas. Compared with other hostels and guesthouses in the town, the Snow Leopard Hotel is a great choice for you.

2 Overnight at EBC

Rongbuk Monastery will offer simple guesthouse and food for tourists when visiting Mount Everest or you can choose to stay one night in the tented camp. In fact, compared with other areas in Tibet, it’s too hard to find real hotel accommodation in Everest base camp, as the harsh climate and environment in EBC. However, accommodations are still available in EBC.
