Behind the great Himalayas in Tibet, a Buddhist country with the highest plateau in the world. This ancient land has always been a mystery, but also attracts many travelers to explore this land.  Kathmandu to Lhasa overland tour via Mount Everest will take you to every place in Tibet. In this 8 days tour, you can experience the different cultures and characteristics of Nepal and Tibet. You can enjoy the amazing scenery along the roadside through the land drive from Kathmandu to Tibet. The Karola Glacier and Yamdroktso lake will show you the natural beauty, while Tashilunpo Monastery, the Jokhang Temple, and  Sera Monastery will take you with close contact with the Tibetan mystical culture.

Day 1 Kathmandu-Gyirong

Our Nepal partner will pick you up from the Kathmandu hotel about 6:00 am, then drive to Gyirong. We will drive from Kathmandu to Rashuwaghadi on the China Nepal border along the way. You will enjoy the wonderful scenery such as Green hills, valleys, rivers and so on. After the entry procedures at Gyirong port, you will meet our tour guide and driver in Tibet, then proceed to the town of Gyirong.

Day 2Gyirong to Tingri 300km

Today, you will go to Tingri county (4300 meters) from Gyirong. On the way, you will enjoy the snow-covered mountains and evergreen forests. When you pass the Tongla Pass (5100 meters), you will enjoy the magnificent Himalaya mountains. At this moment, you will realize the dream of Himalaya in your life.

Day 3 Tingri - Rongbuk - EBC – Tingri

Today, you will travel from Tingri to EBC. On the way to EBC, you are expected to pass the famous Gawu La Pass (5198 meters), where is easy to see the top 4 peaks of great Himalayas. From there, you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalaya mountains. Then we will visit the long-awaited Mount Everest base camp in Tibet (5100 meters). Also, you can explore the highest Buddhist temple in the world (5154 meters)- Rongbuk Monastery(རོང་ཕུ་དགོན་པ།).

Day 4 Tingri - Shigatse

It takes about 7 hours to drive to Shigatse today. If you want to take beautiful scenery along the way, please ask your driver to stop at any time. After arriving in Shigatse, you can visit the Tashilhunpo Monastery, one of the Six Big Monasteries of Gelugpa in Tibet. Its also called the Heap of Glory, located at the foot of Drolmari, Shigatse. Founded by the First Dalai Lama in 1447, the monastery's structure was expanded by the Fourth and successive Panchen Lamas. In summer, along the way, we can also visit the traditional barley mill and enjoy the beautiful wheat field.

Day 5 Shigatse - Gyantse – Lhasa

Today, you will drive to Gyantse to Shigatse via friendship highway. There is a short drive about 90km to Gyantse, which boasts a variety of important cultural and historical site -Khumbum Palkhor Chode Monastery, Gyantse old street.

Then, we drive 280 kilometers to Lhasa, and when you pass Manak Dam Lake, you may hang pray flag at the Simira mountain pass; The next is the close view of Korola Glacier, turquoise Yamdrok lake and snow-capped Mount Nyenchen Khangsar. Finally, you will cross the Yarlung Zangbo River and finally arrive in Lhasa.

Day 6 Lhasa tour

As a capital city of Tibet, Lhasa has a history of more than 1300 years. Today, you will visit the magnificent Potala Palace, the winter residence of Dalai Lamas. The first time you see its soaring fortress wall is the moment you will remember for many years. Even with modern standards to measure an architectural miracle, there are more than 1000 rooms on the 13 floor of palace height from 130m Marpo Ri. The Pilgrims and visitors shuffled through the three floors, the magnificent church in the past dozens, the golden pagoda and the main hall. In the afternoon, you will visit Jokhang Temple as part of the UNESCO World Heritage List 2000 as part of Potala Palace. The Jokhang Temple is located in the center of Lhasa, which is the ultimate pilgrimage destination of the pilgrims in Tibet.

Day 7 Lhasa Tour

Today, you are going to visit the scenic spots in the suburbs of Lhasa. The Drepung Monastery is known as the most important monastery in Tibetan Buddhism. It is considered as one of three great monasteries in Tibet, and the other two are Ganden Monastery and Sera Monastery. Sera Monastery has been one of the earliest monastery educational institutions in Tibet since the early Fifteenth Century.

Day 8 Departure From Lhasa By Flight/Train

Your trip end today. Our tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel to Lhasa Airport/railway station for your next destination.
